Application Instructions & FAQs 

STEP 1: APPLY  

Complete all fields of the scholarship application and upload any necessary supporting documents.

If applying for a scholarship, do not enroll your student through the online registration process. Once the scholarship application is submitted, a spot is reserved for your student in the class(es) designated on your application.

For needs-based applications, when uploading the most recent IRS Tax Return, your social security number can be redacted (marked out). However, the office needs a full copy of this form. Truncated copies are not accepted. If a tax return was not filed the previous year, other government issued documents may be admissible if they highlight current family income and/or benefits.

Feel free to include a personal statement regarding information relevant for the scholarship committee to consider. For example, changes in income, employment, and/or marital status, extenuating family medical expenses since a tax return was filed, etc.

STEP 2: RECOMMENDATION

Once your scholarship application has been submitted, applicants will receive an email about obtaining a teacher recommendation complete with instructions and a secure link to share with the teacher. It is required for all applicants to have at least one teacher recommendation.

Once the teacher recommendation form(s) have been submitted, your application will be complete.  

STEP 3: NOTIFICATION/REGISTRATION  

Shortly after each scholarship deadline, the TUTS Scholarship Committee will meet to review all complete student applications to make determinations.

After all applications have been reviewed, the TUTS Offices will contact parents regarding award status via email. At this time, your class registration will be finalized.

OTHER INFORMATION

HSMT and River scholarship awards are given on a percentage basis and are capped at: 

• Academy: 2 courses 
• HSMT Open Enrollment Fall/Spring: 3 courses 
• River Open Enrollment Fall/Spring: 4 courses 
• HSMT Open Enrollment Summer: 2 weeks of camp 
• River Open Enrollment Summer: 2 weeks of camp 
• Spring/Summer Productions: Up to full tuition
